Future in Youth began operation in Baucau, the second largest town in East Timor, in 2010.

The mission of the program is to improve health, wellbeing and life skills of youth in East Timor through sport with emphasis on fun, fairness and respect.  Run and led by Lecturers from the School of Exercise Science and its students, Future in Youth provides in-country leadership training to Timorese youth through a soccer-coaching program.

The program was started by Dr Ross Smith, a former Brownlow  medallist who has been  inducted into the AFL Hall of Fame.
